Huawei Mate 10 Lite review

How many cameras do you need? This phone gives you 4!!! The Good Huawei’s Mate 10 Lite gives you enough power and a fantastic design, including a 5.9-inch screen framed by small bezels, for less than $400. The Bad Its dual cameras on the front and back are more style than substance, and its battery life, while acceptable, could be better. It's also lacking NFC or water resistance. The Bottom Line The OnePlus 5T is still the midrange king, but Huawei’s latest technology 10 Lite is a great choice if you can get it. The latest technology 7.6 OVERALL Design 9.0 Features 7.0 Performance 8.0 Camera 7.0 Battery 7.0 There's a growing list of phones out there for you if you're not able or willing to spend big bucks on something from Apple, Samsung or Google. The OnePlus 5T ($577.00 at Amazon.com), for instance, offers flagship performance from $499. If you just need the basics, Moto's G5 does everything for $229. Now there's a new phone to add to this list,

We broke $9,000 worth of phones to find the toughest iPhone X case

We challenged 12 case makers to a live drop test at CES and dropped their cases from 20 feet. These were the last ones standing. Even if you've never dropped a phone in your life, putting a case on it is almost non-negotiable. Especially if it has glass on either side, like the iPhone X, the Galaxy Note 8 or just about every other major flagship phone from LG to Samsung . Need convincing? Just take a look at some of our drop tests. The iPhone X cracked on the first drop, from pocket height! But cases seem to be a dime a dozen, so how do you know which one will keep your phone from shattering? That's where we come in... We invited the top case makers in the market to participate in a live drop test at CES to find out which one could survive the highest drop. And 12 of them took us up on the offer: Caseology, Rokform, Thanotech, BodyGuardz, Tech21, Pelican, PureGear, Zizo, Spigen, RhinoShield, Supcase and OWC showed up at the latest technology live stage at the Las Veg

What if Samsung's Galaxy S9 gets these six features?

These latest technology could find their way onto future phones. We've been collecting a long list of features that the Samsung Galaxy S9 is rumored to include when it launches next month at Mobile World Congress, the show for all things mobile.   Meanwhile at CES, the show for every sort of tech (not just mobile), we saw plenty of the latest technology innovations that could find their way into future handsets like the Galaxy S9. Realistically, most of these features would show up well down the line if they do at all, but at least one latest technology we saw is a strong bet to appear in Samsung's top-shelf phone for March. If it does, it would fix the Galaxy S8's most maddening flaw. First-ever in-screen fingerprint sensor An unnamed, unreleased phone from China's Vivo is the first to demo a fingerprint reader built right into the screen. Technically, the sensor lives underneath the screen. We got to meet with Synaptics, the company that made t

The Coolest New Laptop at CES Is Actually a Phone

You have the latest technology in your pocket, but chances are you still carry around a different, separate one in your briefcase or backpack. As phones get every more powerful, there's really no reason for it to be this way. mekanika kid, announced today at CES 2018, is a tantalizing glance into a world where the two finally converge, even though you might not see it happen any time soon.  A phone case that's shaped like a laptop, sports a 13.3-inch quad-HD display, 53.6Wh battery, 200 GB of storage capacity, a keyboard, and a handful of ports. The Floating Electric Car That Was Born From Tragedy

Inspired by the 2011 Japanese tsunami, this latest technology wants to be a comfortable ride and emergency vehicle. The devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan in 2011 inspired numerous innovations meant to prevent future disasters. That includes one man's dream of a floating car. Hideo Tsurumaki, a former Toyota employee, witnessed people trying to escape the tidal onslaught in their cars only to be swept away in the destruction. He later founded Fomm Corp., which aims to build small, waterproof cars that can actually float. He sees them as not just potential ways to get around, but as safety investments. “I intend to put one outside our house,” Tsurumaki tells Bloomberg. “Many others will probably think the same.” Read also THE BEST LAPTOPS FOR GAMING ON THE GO A REALITY CHECK ON THIS YEAR’S WILDEST TECH PRODUCTS While Tsurumaki's Fomm sells itself first as the world's smallest electric four-seater, it's water-resistance and ability to float w

The Best Laptops for Gaming on the Go

As game have gotten more impressive, so have the machines that run them. It wasn’t long ago that gaming laptops were mostly fantasy. If you were willing to spend enough you could buy a laptop that could maybe play all of the latest games, but you still still had to make some significant compromises, whether dialing down the guality or putting up with terrible battery life. Now a gaming laptop will still cost you a sizeable chunk of change, but the trade-offs are considerably less. These are the best six options worth buying, whether you're looking for a gaming rig or something for work and play. Asus ROG Strix GL502VS ASUS $1,700 If you’re looking for something a bit more portable than a 17-inch laptop, Asus’ 15-inch ROG Strix GL502VS is another consistently well-reviewed option, and PC Gamer’s pick for best overall gaming laptop. Not surprisingly, the laptop’s combination of performance and a somewhat more portable form factor does come with one big trade-off: battery

If foldable phones catch on, you can thank an unlikely source

When it comes to creating latest technology phone that take new shapes, little-known handset maker ZTE wants to lead the charge. With foldable displays are either a waste of time or the next breakthrough in handsets. YES It just the latest technology . You can count Lixin Cheng, head of mobile business, as someone solidly in the pro-foldable camp. Last year, ZTE released the , a clamshell-like phone that has two screens and can be opened up to create a single larger display. It includes a hinge and doesn't have a true foldable display, but Cheng believes the design will inspire a new wave of phones. zte-axon-m-gif-dual-screen-phone This latest technology 'Axon M' has a unique two-screen design that flips out to form a larger display. "I'm confident we'll be leading this way for some time to come," Cheng said last week in Las Vegas, where the trade show was taking place. "We're committed to this category." It's one thing if

A REALITY CHECK ON THIS YEAR’S WILDEST TECH PRODUCTS

THE FUTURE OF TRANSPORTATION Toyota show the latest technology of a self-driving vehicle called the e-Palette, but it isn't your traditional driverless car. The vehicle has no seats and no windshield. “My aim is to change Toyota from an automobile company to a mobility company,” Toyota president Akio Toyoda said at the automaker's CES news conference. “Our competitors are no longer those just making cars. Companies like Google, Apple, and Facebook are what I think about at night.” This latest technology called e-Palette is being developed in partnership with Uber, Amazon and Pizza Hut. In one example, the e-Palette could be used to deliver packages, with a robot unloading a parcel and taking it to a customer's door. It could also serve as a mobile store, office and way to commute around a city. The mirrors at CES had a lot to say about your life and looks

At this year latest technology show in Las Vegas, companies showed off mirrors that analyze your skin, organize your wardrobe and more The mirrors on display at the 2018 latest technology show gave you a lot more than your reflection -- they had opinions about your face, clothes, health and more. Companies equipped these smart mirrors with cameras, Wi-Fi and computer learning in an attempt to turn the humble ol' mirror into an interactive, digital control hub. Everyone from small startups to well-known names in electronics presented their versions of the smart mirror at CES. Some, like the HiMirror Mini, are already available for you to bring into your home. Others are still in the concept phase, which is a tech-world way of saying that this product is a very long way from going on sale. Here's a rundown of some of the latest technology mirrors that caught our eye. CareOS is an operating system that its creators want to put into future smart mirrors. CareOS wan

After CES 2018, how close are we to the Jetsons?

With the latest technology in automated homes and consumer-ready robots on the rise, are we ready and able to finally bring the future into the present? I found myself referencing a cartoon from the 1960s at the world's latest technology conference in 2018. I hadn't even watched an episode of it in years, but the whimsical future imagined by that classic Hanna-Barbera show remains a handy benchmark for our present-day inventions. In particular, a called reminded me of the show's Rosie the Robot. Rosie was a home helper that could clean up, take care of the kids, and hold a conversation. In addition to sentient, helpful robots, This latest technology "The Jetsons" also features flying cars, meals you can make at the push of a button, even machines to help you brush your teeth. Almost everything in "The Jetsons" was automated, saving the human characters from lots of menial tasks. Perhaps that's why the show has persisted as a frame of refere

Speed freaks rejoice, because USB could get twice as fast

The port's data speed is doubling today, but another doubling is possible. That would help when copying files and plugging in big monitors. The HP Spectre x360 has two oval USB-C ports, the same ports you'll see on new phones from Samsung, Google and others. (The Lightning logo means they also work as faster Intel Thunderbolt ports.) USB's performance is doubling right now, but you speed freaks should be pleased to hear another doubling is possible for the ubiquitous connection latest technology. USB, short for Universal Serial Bus, is the wildly successful port that you probably use to plug your phone in to a charger and plug your external drive in to your laptop. When it arrived two decades ago, it was great for keyboards and mice, but at 12 megabits per second, it wasn't very useful for copying data to a thumb drive. USB

Origin PC invites you to gear up and see its etchings

At CES 2018, the custom system builder showed off new ways to jazz up its systems as well as updates to the hardware. Origin PC latest technology is all about the customization, so it's not surprising that the new systems it showed at CES 2018 were mostly (though not entirely) about the razzle dazzle; the company adds first-rate laser etching and textured printing to its Custom Paint options. Of course, there are also some tweaks to system designs, series rejiggering and components. At the show, Origin PC proudly showed off its latest technology patent award for the four-way motherboard mounting system in the Millennium/Genesis tower PCs; it really is cool, and if you haven't seen it (it's not new), it allows you to insert the motherboard rack in one of four orientations depending on where you want the backplane to sit. The systems also level up with tempered-glass panels replacing plastic and upgrading some of the plastic to a higher quality reinforced version. Th

At CES, Toyota unveils a self-driving vehicle with some surprising uses

Called e-Palette, the latest technology autonomous electric vehicle has no windshield and no fixed seats — but lots of potential applications. It’s a truck, it’s a taxi, it’s a mobile hotel, its the latest technology. At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Toyota announced that it is developing a driverless electric vehicle in partnership with Amazon, Uber, and Pizza Hut, Called e-Palette, the concept vehicle has no windshield and no fixed seats but is designed for use as a passenger-carrying minivan, a parcel-delivery truck, or even a mobile office or hotel room. Larger than the self-driving taxis being tested by Alphabet spin-off Waymo but smaller than the driverless semi-trucks that Uber is working on, e-Palette is seen as a multipurpose urban runabout. Robot Ships Will Bring Big Benefits — and Put Captains on Shore

The same latest technologies used in driverless cars are set to transform the shipping industry. The world may be focused on developing the latest technology self-driving cars, but the autonomous revolution won’t be limited to roads and highways. The oceans will soon be filled with driverless ships — sleek new vessels that promise big safety and economic advantages over conventional piloted ships. "The idea is to do things more efficiently and transport more with less people onboard," says Oskar Levander, a vice-president in the marine division of Rolls-Royce. The U.K.-based company, a leader in the development of autonomous shipping technology, envisions a future in which everything from naval vessels to ferries and tugboats to cargo ships will have some degree of intelligence. Such smart vessels will be able to, for example, autonomously sail from London to New York City, coping with storms and avoiding collisions without human intervention. As a result, shipping com
